Counsellor Lutterodt Apologises After Police Question Him Over Daddy Lumba Burial Comment

Counsellor Lutterodt

Ghanaian marriage counsellor George Lutterodt has acknowledged that he was invited by the police following controversy over remarks he made about the burial place of highlife icon Daddy Lumba.

News of his alleged arrest spread widely across Ghanaian media earlier, with reports linking the police action to comments he made regarding where the late musician had been laid to rest.

The controversy stems from a video in which Counsellor Lutterodt was seen urging Ga youth to take pickaxes to a residence in East Legon and dig up the remains of Daddy Lumba if it turned out the musician had indeed been buried there.

The comments quickly sparked backlash, prompting intervention from the police. He was later said to have been granted bail.

During an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Lutterodt confirmed that the police had invited him over the matter and explained what transpired.

He also admitted that his remarks were inappropriate, saying he had spoken out of line and expressing regret over the statement.

Lutterodt apologised to the Ghana Police Service as well as to listeners of the radio station where the remarks were originally made.

According to the police, his comments had the potential to provoke violence and amounted to offensive conduct that could breach the peace. Authorities cited provisions under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
