“We Will Celebrate Akosua Serwaa Fosu” – Papa Shee As Daddy Lumba’s Celebration of Life Stalls in Court Row

Uncertainty continues to hang over the planned “Celebration of Life” for the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, as fresh signals emerge from those close to the organising team suggesting a possible change in direction for the event.

Evangelist Papa Shee, who is closely linked to the immediate family of the late musician, has revealed that attention around the programme could be redirected away from the tribute to Daddy Lumba and instead centre on his widow, Akosua Serwaa Fosu.

He made the remarks on March 25, 2026, after proceedings at the Accra High Court, where he spoke to journalists following the adjournment of an injunction case that has stalled preparations for the scheduled March 28, 2026 event.

The court matter, which seeks to block the proposed Celebration of Life ceremony, has now been postponed to April 23, 2026, leaving the planned March date in limbo and raising questions about whether it will still take place as originally intended.

Responding to concerns over the way forward, Papa Shee suggested that the focus of any alternative gathering may be shifted entirely.

“We will celebrate Akosua Serwaa Fosu. It is those who are alive who are to be celebrated,” Papa Shee said.

The latest development adds to an already tense situation that has followed Daddy Lumba’s funeral, which took place on December 13, 2025. In its aftermath, sections of the immediate family, including his sister Ernestina Fosu alongside Papa Shee, proposed a second commemorative event in his honour.

That plan, however, triggered resistance from the family head, Kofi Owusu, who moved to the Accra High Court to secure an injunction stopping the proposed ceremony, setting the stage for the ongoing legal dispute.
