Ghanaian actress and businesswoman Charly D has shut down speculation linking her romantically to Kumawood star Kwaku Manu, insisting their bond has never gone beyond work.
During a discussion on Okay FM with Nana Romeo, she drew a clear line between perception and reality, stressing that their connection has always been professional.
“I knew he was married. Kwaku Manu is my boss, and we’re not dating. I want to set this straight,” she said.
Beyond dismissing the rumours, Charly D highlighted the pivotal role Kwaku Manu played in shaping her career, describing him as instrumental in her breakthrough.
“If we should talk about someone who has helped me, especially in shooting to fame, I would always mention Kwaku Manu. If not for the movies he shot with me, Ghanaians wouldn’t have known me. They might hear my name and all they would think of is that I sell food,” she explained.
She did not hold back her gratitude, crediting him for the recognition she now enjoys.
“Because of him, people know me now. I respect him so much for that,” she stated.
Addressing the rumours again, she made her position unmistakably clear. “We have never dated before, and he has never proposed to me. It is just about the work.”
Charly D suggested that their convincing on-screen pairing may have blurred the lines for audiences, but said it simply reflects their experience and chemistry as actors.
“As an actress, I can play every role perfectly. Whatever you see on the screens is us doing our work. Maybe because we’ve known each other for a long time, it makes it easy for us both to go all out for the roles,” she further stated.
