Gospel singer Bernice Ansah says her post-election experience with the National Democratic Congress has left her feeling overlooked, despite what she describes as strong support for the party during the 2024 campaign season.
In a recent interview on ATV, she claimed that since the party returned to power, she has not been contacted for any official events, a situation she finds difficult to understand given her visibility during the campaign period.
“When they host any event, they don’t call me. After we won power till date, there is no event they have organised and invited me. I have lobbied and asked why they don’t book me, and some people told me they have their choice of musicians,” she said.
She explained that her expectations were shaped by the level of effort she invested in the party’s campaign, noting that she was actively involved in rallies and other political activities.
Beyond public appearances, Bernice Ansah said her commitment extended into her personal life, where she dedicated time to spiritual preparation, including long periods of fasting and all-night prayer sessions ahead of the elections.
According to her, those efforts, both physical and spiritual, were made with the belief that they would be recognised once the party secured victory, particularly through opportunities to perform at NDC-related programmes.
She recalled instances during the campaign where she had to push through exhaustion, sometimes moving directly from prayer meetings to rally grounds without taking time to rest or freshen up.
Despite that, she noted that others continue to be selected for party events while she remains on the sidelines, a situation she considers unfair.
“I am not asking for money from anyone. As a gospel musician, all I want is to be included among the artistes engaged for programmes by the NDC,” Bernice Ansah further stated.
She was quick to point out that her concerns are not aimed at the President, but rather at those within the party who handle event planning and artist selection. She called on them to acknowledge her contributions and offer her equal consideration in future programmes.
