Kofi Owusu Aduonum, husband of former Guinness World Record contender hopeful Afua Asantewaa, has moved to set the record straight after a video involving their daughter circulated widely online amid a period of tension between the couple.
The video, which spread rapidly across social media, showed the couple’s daughter making a remark in which she appeared to say she no longer remembered her father. The moment triggered heavy online debate, with some users directing harsh criticism at the child and labelling her disrespectful and ungrateful.
Addressing the issue during a TikTok live session on April 28, 2026, Kofi Owusu Aduonum insisted the public reaction was built on a misreading of what actually happened in the video.
He explained that parts of the video were selectively interpreted and used to fuel division within the family.
“It is not true; she didn’t say that, and they took it out of context—a version of what she said. The full video captured where she admitted and acknowledged that I was not with them at that particular moment, but I wasn’t absent. So it was a calculated way to incite her against me,” he said.
He further suggested that the narrative being circulated was intentionally shaped to strain the relationship between him and his daughter.
“It was quite unfortunate because they were trying to drum something into her head and create discord between my daughter and me. We thank you for your warm wishes and prayers,” Kofi Owusu Aduonum added.
