Bole SHS Teacher Interdicted After Alleged Student Misconduct Video Surfaces

Bole Senior High School

A teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region has been suspended from duty after allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student surfaced online.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) announced the interdiction on Monday, June 16, after becoming aware of a video circulating on social media that allegedly captures inappropriate conduct between the teacher and a student of the school.

In a statement signed by its Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the Service said it had commenced investigations into the matter and had taken immediate administrative action against the teacher while the probe continues.

According to the statement, “Management has initiated investigations into the matter. Pending the outcome of the investigations, management directs that the teacher is interdicted in accordance with GES rules and regulations.”

GES said the development underscores its unwavering position against any form of inappropriate relationship between teachers and students, stressing that such conduct has no place within the country’s educational system.

“Management strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships between teachers and students,” the statement noted. It added that the service “reiterates its zero tolerance towards sexual misconduct and cautions all staff to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct at all times.”

The Service further assured parents, students and the wider public that safeguarding learners remains a priority, adding that anyone found responsible would face the necessary disciplinary and legal consequences.

“Management remains committed to ensuring the safety, protection, and well-being of all students within the educational system,” the statement said. “Appropriate disciplinary and legal action will be taken against any individual found culpable.”

GES also indicated that the case is being handled with urgency and seriousness, promising to keep the public informed should there be any significant developments.

“The public is assured that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness. Further updates, where necessary, might be provided as investigations progress,” the statement concluded.
