Celestine Donkor Reveals the Fatherly Support Behind Her Daughters’ Upbringing

Gospel musician and author Celestine Donkor has opened up about the strong partnership between her and her husband in raising their three daughters, describing his involvement as a major influence in their children’s growth and development.

Speaking at the second edition of the Convergence of Mothers event organised by media personality MzGee, Donkor shared how parenting in her home has always been a shared responsibility, with both parents playing active roles in shaping their daughters’ values, discipline and spiritual foundation.

She explained that her husband has remained deeply committed to their children’s upbringing, taking part in everyday responsibilities and creating meaningful moments that strengthen their bond with the girls.

“I thank God that my husband is very involved in raising our girls,” she said.

Donkor revealed that her husband has handled several aspects of their daughters’ daily routines, including taking them to school, a responsibility she admitted she has rarely had to perform herself.

“I can count the number of times I have dropped them in school, and that would be when he has travelled,” she said.

The gospel singer indicated that the school trips have become more than just a routine activity, as they provide opportunities for prayer, conversations and father-daughter connection.

“They have their prayer time on their way to school,” she revealed.

Mrs Donkor further explained that her husband’s dedication to parenting started even before they welcomed their children. She said he took time to educate himself about parenting and family life, gathering knowledge that later shaped how they approached raising their daughters.

According to her, lessons from parenting resources have influenced some of the family’s practices, including maintaining strong communication, building values and nurturing spiritual growth.

She cautioned against the idea that raising children should be left entirely to mothers, stressing that children benefit greatly when both parents take an active role.

Donkor believes a shared parenting approach helps create stability, consistency and a stronger support system for children as they grow.

Reflecting on her family’s journey, she expressed appreciation for her husband’s commitment, describing his contribution to their daughters’ lives as priceless.
