Dr Likee Reveals £2,000 Sound Crisis Nearly Halted UK Comedy Show Before Nana Ama McBrown’s Intervention

A last-minute issue nearly threw a challenge into the works for Dr Likee’s UK comedy show, with the comedian revealing that the event was almost disrupted just half an hour before he took the stage at the Indigo at The O2.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, Dr Likee disclosed that the team was suddenly informed that the sound engineer would not work unless an extra £2,000 payment was made.

He explained that the demand was unexpected because the additional charge was not included in their original agreement, creating uncertainty over whether the show could proceed.

Dr Likee said the team attempted to find an alternative solution by suggesting that another technician be brought in to manage the sound, especially since raising the extra money on the same day was difficult.

However, the proposal was rejected after they were told the venue’s policy did not permit such a replacement.

The situation was eventually resolved after actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown intervened and helped find a way forward, allowing the highly anticipated event to continue as planned.

“The hardest part for me was about 30 minutes before the show when they told us the sound engineer refused to work unless we paid £2,000. We asked if another technician could step in instead, but they said their policy didn’t allow it.

“It really turned into a serious problem because there was no way we could raise £2,000 on the same day. I’m truly grateful to Nana Ama McBrown for stepping in and helping resolve the situation,” he said.

Following the successful show, Dr Likee expressed appreciation to the entertainers and public figures who supported the event and honoured their invitations.

He highlighted the contributions of performers and personalities including Akrobeto, Emelia Brobbey, Stonebwoy, and others, noting that their participation played an important role in making the night memorable.

Dr Likee Live made its much-anticipated UK debut at Indigo at The O2 on May 22, 2026, bringing Ghanaian comedy and entertainment to an international audience.

The show featured a blend of comedy, music, and theatrical performances, reflecting the growing global influence of Ghana’s creative arts industry.
