Celestine Donkor Reveals the 3 Marriage Warning Signs She Says Women Should Never Ignore

Gospel singer Celestine Donkor has shared what she believes are three essential issues women should carefully examine before deciding to marry, arguing that paying attention to them early could help prevent avoidable problems in marriage.

Speaking in a video uploaded to her Instagram page, the award-winning musician began with what she described as one of the biggest relationship red flags: a partner who uses silence as a weapon after disagreements.

According to Donkor, women should be wary of men who refuse to communicate after conflicts, especially those who can go for days, weeks or even months without speaking. She explained that healthy marriages thrive on honest conversations and conflict resolution, not emotional withdrawal.

“The first thing to look out for is silent treatment. If there’s an issue and the person gets angry, then goes the whole day, weeks, or even months without speaking to you, you should be very careful about marrying such a person.

“Women are naturally conversational. When there’s a problem, they usually want to talk about it and resolve it. So if someone resorts to giving you the silent treatment, it’s something that can be very difficult to live with in marriage,” she said.

Donkor also stressed the importance of discussing intimacy before marriage. She said couples should be honest about their sexual expectations and desires, noting that a major mismatch in sex drive can become a persistent source of conflict if left unaddressed.

“The second thing is sexual currency. If a man’s sex drive is very high and he talks about sex all the time, you need to assess yourself. If you don’t have the same level of interest in sex, that marriage may face constant challenges. Make sure your sexual currency aligns before you decide to get married,” she stated.

She concluded by encouraging women to observe a prospective husband’s attitude towards giving, saying generosity often reflects a person’s broader character. Using tithing as an example, Donkor said a man’s willingness to give to God can reveal how willing he may be to support others, including his wife.

“Check whether he is stingy. Look at whether he pays his tithe. Don’t marry a man who doesn’t pay tithes. If he can’t give God 10%, then imagine how he will treat you, a fellow human being,” Celestine Donkor further stated.
