Nana Agradaa Calls for Spiritual Cleansing for Jailed Chairman Wontumi After 20-Year Sentence

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, better known as Nana Agradaa, has urged the family of jailed New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi, to seek spiritual intervention after his conviction.

In a video shared on TikTok, the evangelist said that although the legal process has reached its conclusion, divine intervention remains possible through prayer and spiritual support.

Agradaa appealed specifically to Wontumi’s wife to visit her church, where she believes spiritual cleansing could be performed.

“His wife should come and meet my husband and me so we can perform some cleansing rituals. The law is the law, and once it has taken its course, the rest is left in God’s hands,” she said.

She further compared a prison sentence to the pain of losing someone close, stressing that Wontumi’s current situation requires continued prayers and faith.

“When someone is sentenced to prison, it is almost the same as losing that person. As for Chairman, we will continue to pray for him and trust that God will show him mercy,” Nana Agradaa further stated.

Chairman Wontumi was convicted by the Accra High Court over illegal mining-related offences involving his company, Akonta Mining Limited.

The court, in a ruling delivered on Monday, July 20, 2026, handed him a 20-year prison sentence after finding him guilty on four counts, including assigning mineral rights without the approval of the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and facilitating mining activities without the required licence.

Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay ruled that the prosecution had successfully established that Wontumi and Akonta Mining allowed Henry Okoom and Michael Gyedu Ayisi to undertake mining operations on the company’s concession without securing the necessary ministerial approval.

The court determined that their actions amounted to facilitating illegal mining activities on the concession, resulting in their conviction.
