Ayisha Modi has revealed that she injected $15,000 into Ofori Amponsah‘s music comeback after the highlife musician abandoned his pastoral work and decided to return to the entertainment industry, saying she never recovered the money despite their agreement.
Speaking in an interview on Aluta FM on Thursday, July 30, 2026, she recounted that Ofori Amponsah sought her help at a time when he was facing financial hardship and looking for a way back into music.
According to Ayisha, the singer appealed to her by pointing out that she had supported many people over the years but had not shown him the same generosity, even though they once had a relationship and share children together.
Before committing to the project, she said she discussed the matter with musician Kontihene, who cautioned her against investing because Ofori allegedly owed her money and had shown no interest in settling the debt.
“I gave Ofori Amponsah $15,000 in cash to start his album. At that time, he had just come back from his pastoral duties, so he didn’t have money when he wanted to come back to the system. He was broke and he came to see me,” she said.
She continued, “He told me that I’ve been helping strangers, but I don’t want to help him despite the fact that he is my ex and we have children together. I then informed Kontihene about it, but he told me not to do it because Ofori was owing me some money and he wasn’t willing to pay.”
Despite the warning, Ayisha said she went ahead with the investment after both parties agreed on a revenue-sharing arrangement tied to the album’s commercial success.
Under the deal, she explained, she would finance the project and recover her investment through a share of the income once the album began generating revenue.
“The agreement was that I would invest in the album and when the music generates money, then we share it,” she stated.
She added that the arrangement extended beyond music sales, claiming she was also entitled to a percentage of earnings from concerts and other performances connected to the project.
“Again, any show that we will play concerning that album, I would have a percentage in it. Even his manager, Ashis, was aware,” she shared.
Ayisha further alleged that she spent more than $2,000 on a professional photoshoot for Ofori Amponsah and insisted she still possesses receipts and other documents to support her claims.
“I paid $2,000+ for just his photoshoot at that time. I still have all the receipts and evidence. I gave that money to Ashis, so he knows about the album,” she said.
According to her, the album was completed and performance opportunities soon followed, but disagreements over appearance fees created tension.
She claimed Ofori was unwilling to accept some of the offers because he believed the amounts being proposed did not reflect his stature in the music industry.
“After spending all this amount of money, I didn’t receive a dime from that project. He knows how much I invested in that album. After we were done with the project, shows and other events started coming, but the money they wanted to pay was not much,” she revealed.
“Ofori felt like he was bigger than that amount they proposed. We had to sit down and discuss that he was away from the system for a while and he’s now back for us to promote him again, so he should consider taking some amount they’re offering,” Ayisha Modi further stated.
