Ghana media personality Abena Moet has criticised dancehall musician Shatta Wale, accusing him of turning controversies involving fellow artistes into opportunities to keep his name in the spotlight.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on September 13, 2026, Abena Moet argued that Shatta Wale has established himself as a confrontational figure in Ghana’s entertainment industry, while other artistes continue to engage him because their public exchanges often attract attention and publicity.
“We all know that Shatta Wale has been a bully and will always be that bully. But some people don’t mind working with that bully once in a while. Whether you like it or not, their banter has created relevance for them for years,” she said.
She questioned whether Shatta Wale’s current visibility is being driven primarily by his music, suggesting that controversy has played a major role in keeping him at the centre of public conversations.
“If we should say the truth, apart from ‘Street Crown’, when was the last time Shatta Wale had a hit song? Because whenever he wants the attention, we give it to him; he’s always at the top,” she stated.
Her comments came amid the latest public exchanges involving Stonebwoy and Sarkodie, a situation in which Shatta Wale has also weighed in despite not being one of the principal parties.
“Now we’re talking about the jollof Stonebwoy gave Sarkodie, but Shatta Wale has also involved himself. He will always get involved in fights like this. Sometimes, he should just ignore it like Sarkodie did, which doesn’t make him a good person,” Abena Moet shared.
According to her, Stonebwoy and other artistes should be careful not to allow personal emotions to dictate their responses to public disputes, particularly in an industry where publicity and business interests frequently overlap.
“Most artistes have been complaining about Sarkodie that he’s a user, but it’s work. I think Stonebwoy should understand that this is a game and it’s business. That’s how it will forever be,” she said.
Abena Moet further alleged that Shatta Wale deliberately uses his platforms to keep controversies alive, especially during periods when he does not have a major hit dominating the music scene.
She claimed that targeting another artiste can provide Shatta Wale with a steady stream of content and public attention.
“As Shatta Wale doesn’t have a hit song today, he will use you on his live for two weeks. At first, he releases about 100 songs in a year, but when was the last time he released a hit song? Either way, this is business for him, and what matters is that his name is in the industry,” she averred.
She also accused the dancehall musician of taking advantage of the Stonebwoy-Sarkodie dispute even though, in her view, his name was only briefly brought into the matter.
“If you’re going to act emotional all the time for him to use you, it’s up to you. As the issue was ongoing with Sarkodie, Shatta’s name was mentioned just once, but see what he is doing. He wants something to stand on and use you to chase clout,” Abena Moet further stated.
