Thomas Partey Pleads Not Guilty to Rape and Assault Charges, Trial Set for 2026

Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey, the Ghanaian midfielder and former Arsenal player, has firmly denied accusations of raping two women and sexually assaulting another.

Appearing at Southwark Crown Court, Partey entered not guilty pleas to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old was formally charged just days after leaving Arsenal, following the expiration of his contract at the end of June. He has since signed with Spanish club Villarreal.

Judge-approved bail conditions allow Partey to continue his football career. However, he must inform police of any international travel at least 24 hours beforehand and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.

At the hearing, Partey confirmed his name before rejecting each charge. His trial is scheduled to begin at the same court on 2 November 2026, BBC reported.

While in England this week for Villarreal’s Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, Partey made a substitute appearance in a game that ended in a 1-0 defeat.
