Ghanaian Entertainment curator and blogger Eugene Osafo Nkansah, popularly known as Nkonkonsa, says the public scandal involving mental health advocate Abena Korkor did not damage his personal life but instead boosted his online presence in a remarkable way.
He explained that the episode, which many assumed would harm him emotionally or strain his marriage, had the opposite outcome. Eugene revealed that the controversy brought him an additional one million followers across his social media platforms.
During an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he described the experience as unexpectedly beneficial. “I got one million followers out of Abena Korkor’s issue. I don’t think it affected me in any way. Not emotionally, not physically, not psychologically,” he revealed.
Addressing assumptions about the impact on his marriage, Eugene said the relationship remained steady throughout. He credited the strength he and his wife had built together, saying it was more than capable of weathering public scrutiny.
He added that he had long prepared himself for such a moment, given the nature of his work. “How can you do this job for 20 years and not get a scandal? I wanted to experience what it looks like but I didn’t know how it was going to happen. I knew it would happen. I knew something would hit me hard so psychologically, mentally, my marriage, everything, I was building the walls before it happened. And I was the only person who knew,” Nkonkonsa stated.
The incident occurred after Abena Korkor released a video alleging that she had been intimate with Eugene while he was married, sparking widespread debate about celebrity lifestyles, fidelity and the blurred lines between private and public life.
