Semenyo Earns Premier League Player of the Season Nomination After Stunning Campaign

Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo’s rise in English football has reached another major landmark after the Ghana international secured a nomination for the 2025/26 EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Season award following an outstanding campaign with Bournemouth and Manchester City.

The 26-year-old attacker has produced the best numbers of his career this season, registering 16 league goals and four assists while establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attacking players.

After opening the campaign strongly at Bournemouth, Semenyo completed a January switch to Manchester City and quickly became an important figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad. His impact across both clubs has seen him climb to third in the Premier League scoring rankings.

His nomination places him alongside several of the league’s biggest stars, including Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Arsenal trio Declan Rice, Gabriel and David Raya, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Brentford forward Igor Thiago and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Premier League organisers praised the Black Stars forward for adapting immediately after his move to the Etihad Stadium and maintaining his high level of performance.

“Ghana international Semenyo played a starring role for two clubs this season, joining Man City in the January transfer window after a stunning start to 2025/26 at AFC Bournemouth,” the Premier League said in its citation.

League organisers also highlighted the versatility that has made Semenyo one of Guardiola’s most trusted attacking options.

“He continued to impress in numerous attacking roles, including on both wings, as a forward and in midfield, slotting seamlessly into Pep Guardiola’s side as they aim to hunt down Arsenal in the title race.”

The nomination adds another significant achievement to Semenyo’s growing reputation and further boosts Ghana’s presence on the global football stage, with the forward now competing for one of the highest individual honours in English football.

Known for his pace, power and ability to operate in multiple attacking positions, Semenyo has become a key figure for both club and country, with his performances this season strengthening expectations ahead of Ghana’s upcoming international fixtures.

Voting for the award remains open until May 18, after which the winner will be decided through a combination of fan votes and selections from a panel of football experts.

Meanwhile, Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick has also been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after leading the club back into the UEFA Champions League qualification places following a strong resurgence in the second half of the campaign.
