Beverly Afaglo’s Brother Reveals Why She Stopped Cancer Treatment Before Her Death

Beverly Afaglo

New details have emerged about the final months of actress Beverly Afaglo’s battle with cancer, with her brother, Caleb Afaglo, revealing that she eventually stopped taking her medication because she had become exhausted by the physical and emotional toll of treatment.

Speaking during the actress’ one-week observation held on May 30, 2026, Caleb shared an emotional account of Beverly’s unwavering faith throughout her illness. According to him, despite the pain and challenges she faced during her two-year fight against cancer, she remained convinced that God would intervene and bring her peace.

He explained that the late actress endured numerous medical procedures over the course of her treatment, a situation that gradually left her drained. However, even in those difficult moments, she held firmly to her belief that her healing was in God’s hands.

Addressing mourners gathered at the event, Caleb reflected on how people often interpret peace as physical recovery, but noted that divine peace can sometimes take a different form.

According to him, Beverly ultimately found that peace in God’s eternal care.

“‘Ama’ refused medication because she believed that God was going to heal her. She was tired of the poking on the hands, the arms, and the legs. She was tired, and she believed strongly that God was going to give her peace.

“Sometimes our peace may mean healing, but God’s peace may mean giving you a dwelling place of comfort. Ama’s dwelling place of comfort today is in God’s bosom. She passed away quietly four days shy of her 43rd birthday,” he said.

Beverly Afaglo passed away on May 24, 2026, following a prolonged battle with cancer that lasted two years. Her death came just four days before she would have celebrated her 43rd birthday, a loss that has continued to draw tributes from colleagues, friends, family members, and admirers across the country.

The one-week remembrance ceremony, held at the Green Flavour Events Centre in Community 9, Tema, brought together a large number of personalities from Ghana’s entertainment industry who gathered to honour her memory and celebrate her life.

Among those in attendance were Selassie Ibrahim, Ebi Bright, Nikki Samonas, Gloria Osei Sarfo, Vivian Jill Lawrence, Roselyn Ngissah, Portia Asare, Pascal Amanfo, Salinko, Joselyn Dumas, Vicky Zugah, Kalybos, John Dumelo, Eunice Banini, James Gardiner, Nana Ama McBrown, Salma Mumin, Gifty Adorye and musician Nana Boroo, alongside several other industry figures.

The gathering was marked by moments of reflection, tributes, and prayers as loved ones remembered the actress for her contributions to Ghana’s film industry and the impact she made on those around her.

Beverly Afaglo’s final funeral rites have been scheduled for August 7, 2026, when family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers will come together to bid her a final farewell.
