Stigmatization Against Mortuary Workers Not The Best-MOWAG Secretary

Secretary of Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG), Richard Kofi Jordan says stigmatization against their work is not the best in the country.

According to Richard Kofi Jordan, a female member of the Association has not been speaking with the mother for two years because of the work she does.

Mr. Richard Kofi Jordan  speaking to First News noted that not all members of the Association enjoyed the 50 percent bonus for frontline workers from Government.

“ The stigmatization against our work is very bad, we are not getting the needed recognition in the country.”

He noted that they have to petition President Akufo-Addo on the issue and it was rectified. So far six mortuary workers are alleged to have died from COVID-19.

Mr. Jordan also noted that a young man who has been given the opportunity to work with the Association has been warned by his family that he would be banished from the family if he takes up that job.

He commended President Akufo-Addo for the partial ban on funerals that he believes would also reduce COVID-19 cases in Ghana.
