Three Gates Reject New Queen Mother For Sunyani
Three gates of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family namely; Akosua Dua Gate, Kwantwiwaa and Nyantakyiwaa Gate have rejected the new Queen mother for Sunyani, Nana Duaah Brayie.
According to the three gates, the Sunyanimahene Nana Bosoman Asor Nkrawiri II did not consult the three gates before selecting someone to become the next Queen Mother for the Sunyani Traditional Area.
Joseph Adjabeng Danquah speaking on behalf of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family noted that, “Nana has gone far by unilaterally choosing and installing his favourite candidate as the successor to the late Nana Nyamaa II, without the knowledge of the entire Nana Boahen Korkor Family. In view of this, we the entire Nana Boahen Korkor Royal Family do not recognise the lady who was installed as queen on Monday 2nd August, 2021, as our queen.”
Mr. Danquah also indicated that, “We the members of the Nana Boahen Korkor Family are of the strong conviction that, if this unilateral and unlawful act by Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II in choosing a successor to the stool, with total disregard for the opinions and recommendations of the family.”
He disclosed that a case has been filed against Nana Bosoma II at the court based on the way he chose the successor to the stool.
