Savelugu: 10 Persons Die In Accident 23 Sustained Injuries

Ten persons died while 23 others sustained injuries in an accident near Savelugu in the Northern region.

According to an official report, a KIA Rhino truck carrying the victims in an attempt to avoid hitting a cyclist, lost control and somersaulted.

Police say there were some 33 passengers on board the KIA truck and were said to be returning from a funeral.

 The Acting Regional PRO for the Northern Region, Superintendent Bernard Baba Ananga speaking to First News said the victims were returning from a funeral when the incident happened.

“About six people died on the spot and four also died when they were taken to the Savelugu Hospital for treatment. Others were sent to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment.”
