Abesim: Man, 58 Drowns In River Wakoa At Abesim

A body of 58 -year- old man, Pascal Moro has been found dead in the River Wakoa at Wakogyamu a suburb of Abesim near Sunyani in the Bono Region.

The deceased believed to be a Burkinabe national has lived in the community for the past three years. The cause of his dead is yet to be established.

Co-tenant and an eyewitness, Prophet Nicodemus  Boampong  known in the area as ‘Sabi’, in an interview with CFA News revealed that he returned from town late in the evening on Monday, February 14, 2022, and did not see the deceased. But on Tuesday morning around 7:00a.m. he went to the river to fetch water and saw a dead body in it.

According to him upon seeing the body he tried to call the police but only to realized he doesn’t have call credit so he quickly ran to town and buy credit and report the incident to the police.

Prophet Boampong noted that he realized it was his co-tenant Pascal after he helped the police to retrieve the body from the river.

He further revealed that though cause of Pascal’s death is yet be to established but he believed the deceased fell into the river because he was drunk and tried to fetch some water for his bath that evening because they saw a rubber busket, sponge, towel and soap at the bank of the river where he always stands and take his bath. To him, Pascal is known in the community as a drunker and always come home drunk.

Confirming the incident, Chief Inspector Kofi Aboagye of Abesim Police Station told Collins Fosu-Appiah that they received call around 9:00am on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 and rushed to scene only to see the lifeless body of the deceased. He noted that the body has been deposited at Regional Hospital mortuary in Sunyani for autopsy.
