You Don’t Come To Parliament Yet You’re On TikTok Dancing – Ken Agyapong Slams Adwoa Safo

The Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has unleashed a scathing attack on Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo over reports that she is holding the government to ransom.

Speaking on GBC’s Breakfast Show on Monday, February 21, 2022, Mr. Agyapong said her purported request to be made the Deputy Majority Leader, a position she served in the previous Parliament, smacked of a lack of ambition.

“She is saying she wants to be a deputy Majority Leader. That woman has failed in life. A whole cabinet minister [for Gender, Children and Social Protection] now demanding that she should be made a deputy Majority Leader before she comes [to Parliament].”

The Assin Central MP also suggested that Ms. Adwoa Safo should even lose her seat following her recent conduct.

“You don’t come to Parliament and you are on TikTok dancing… Dome Kwabenya is not for [your father] Apostle Kwadwo Safo.”

Other members of the NPP have also accused the Dome Kwabenya MP of sabotaging the party.

A Deputy Trade and Industry Minister, Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, said her continuous absence in Parliament was making government business in the chamber difficult.

This is against the backdrop of the government’s attempts to pass the controversial E-Levy bill.

The bill has stiff opposition from the Minority, who have just one less seat in Parliament than the Majority group.

She has, however, received support from the Africa Centre for Women in Politics, which criticised what it termed vitriolic attacks on her.

The group in a statement stated that the comments made against the MP over her continuous absence in Parliament were in bad taste and attempt to drag her name into disrepute.

Dome-Kwabenya voters split on calls for Adjoa Safo’s removal from Parliament

Meanwhile, Adwoa Safo’s constituents are split over calls for her to be removed from Parliament.

While 47% of residents of the Dome-Kwabenya do not support the recall of the Sarah Adwoa Safo, 44% are in support of such a call.

This is according to Global Info Analytics, which conducts economic and market research, political risk forecasting.
