Wenchi: Police Burns “Ganja Base”, Grabs 8 Suspects

The Wenchi Divisional criminal Investigation Department in collaboration with the Police Intelligence Department in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region has set ablaze a “weed” base.

They have also managed to apprehend eight suspected weed smokers including one lady Nasiba Ubeida age 19.

The  rest are Abdul Nashiru 28,Adama Abu 57, Mohammed Siaka 43, Yerifa Joe 36, Adams Tijani 26, Fii Moses 80, Sule Sumaila 29.

The suspects are currently  in the police custody assisting in investigations .

Investigations  reveals that some dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs also known as weed were found at the base.

It is said the suspects would be thoroughly screened and those found culpable during the swoop would be arranged to court.

Investigations revealed that the Wenchi Divisional Police Criminal and Investigation Department in collaboration with the Police Intelligence Department started the exercise on Monday evening at about 6:30 pm and lasted for about one hour thirty minutes, leading to the arrest of eight suspected weed smokers that were at the scene.

Information gathered from the Wenchi Divisional Police Command described the operation as very successful and necessary therefore they were planning to replicate such operations in other ganja bases within the Municipality in this yuletide season (Christmas season).

The swoop was conducted in Kaamu, a suburb of Wenchi township.

Honorable Francis Nantwi Boateng, the Assembly Member of the area lauds Police for the exercise.

In an interview with Wenchi based Radio West Africa he said the weed smokers are disturbing inhabitants living there day and night hence the plans of such exercise.
