Bomaa: One Shot Dead At Bomaa Over Chieftaincy Dispute

One person is reportedly shot dead at Bomaa in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region following chieftaincy dispute in the community.

Joseph Oduro Beniako aka Sir Joe, a teacher at St Johannes Preparatory School at Bomaa met his untimely death when he was shot.

There is a contention between two families as to who is to become the next chief of Bomaa after the death Nana Kwafo Akoto.

Several others have also got injured and been sent to some health facilities for treatment following the dispute.

There is heavy military presence in the community following the incident. Residents are not allowed to move about in the community.

The Ahafo Regional Security Council is currently at an emergency meeting because of the incident according to the Ahafo Regional Minister, George Yaw Boakye.

Isaac Adjei Boateng, leader of  the Patriotic Youth of Bomaa is calling for calm in the area.

” It is unfortunate that this incident has happened despite the heavy security presence in the community. I want to urge the youth to remain calm and allow the security to do their work.”
