Nyeri Catholic diocese on Saturday ordained the first-ever blind priest in Kenya.
Deacon Michael Mithamo King’ori was ordained by Archbishop Anthony Muheria.
“Jubilation and thanksgiving to God as the Catholic Church in Kenya witness the extraordinary ordination of the first blind priest, Rev Deacon Michael Mithamo King’ori of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri to the priesthood,” Radio Maria reported.
“His is a story of “with God, all things are possible.” Congratulations to Fr Michael Mithamo and gratitude to Most Rev Anthony Muheria for granting such a fete of grace.”
Mithamo had been serving as a deacon at the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri.
He was ordained alongside other priests.
This comes after the beatification of Sister Maria Carola in Meru on November 5, 2022.
The announcement of the beatification was authorized by Pope Francis in December 2021.
