Don’t Discriminate Against Persons With Disabilities- Dr Naami

Dr. Augustina Naami, Head of Department of Social Works at University of Ghana, Legon has urged Ghanaians to desist from discriminating against persons with disabilities.

According to her, persons with disabilities are just like any other person hence the need to draw them closer rather than discriminating against them.

She further mentioned that, discrimination against persons with disabilities is a global problem that needs education to stop the discrimination.

She made this known at Nkwanta at a refresher workshop for media personnel in the Oti Region.

The workshop was organised by Voice Ghana and funded by UKaid in collaboration with Ghana Somubi Dwumadie under “You Matter ” project.

It is estimated that about 700,000 people are living with one form of disability or the other in Ghana.
