Kete-Krachi : A Teacher And Another Person Drown On The Volta Lake

Two bodies have been recovered from the Volta Lake in Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region.

Mr. Edu Sampson,a teacher who is in his early 30s and Madam Afua Nyarkowaah in her 40s were returning from Kete Krachi to their respective Island communities on a fishing boat when they both met their untimely death.

According to eyewitnesses, the original boat the passengers were traveling with abandoned them in one of the Island communities due to the strong wind.

The eyewitnesses said, some of the passengers had already decided not to go on the trip due to the bad weather condition.

The two had to drop at Kotoku Gyane but the boat operator bypassed the island community because it was already late and had to turn back to drop them.

Unfortunately, on their side, while the operator was turning the boat to curve, he lost control due to the strong wind and the boat capsized.

The boat operator, a fisherman and one teacher escaped leaving the two drowning in the Volta Lake.

The bodies, after recovered, were sent to the Krachi Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and later released to the family for burials.
