Ampem-Darkowa Ladies FC Presents Trophy To Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi
Ampem-Darkowa Ladies football club, the two-time champions of the women’s league, presented their trophy from the recently concluded Ladies Premier League to Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi at his residence.
Speaking on behalf of the football club, Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour, the CEO of the club who also serves as the Mawerehene of the Techiman Traditional Area, expressed that the club decided to pay their respects to Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi as part of their tour to present the cup to various influential individuals in the region.
These individuals had supported the club in various ways during their journey to victory. Additionally, the club aimed to use this opportunity to appeal for further support in the upcoming season.
Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour emphasized that as league champions, Ampem-Darkowa Ladies would be representing the country in the Africa Zonal league, taking place in Nigeria. Therefore, they would require support and sponsorship to ensure they qualify for the African Championship. He concluded by expressing the club’s gratitude for any assistance that could be provided.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, the Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) and the Ahenema Hene of Techiman Traditional Area, expressed his appreciation for the gesture and commended the team for their hard work in securing the trophy.
He encouraged them to maintain the same level of effort they had exhibited during the league and even surpass it as they face teams from other countries in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the former Minister for Education, Youth, and Sports advised the team to take their training seriously and abstain from any indecent behaviors while at camps. As a gesture of his support, he presented an undisclosed amount to the team and promised.
