Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh wins Best Minister of the Year award
Minister responsible for Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has been adjudged the Best Performing Minister by the Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours Awards for the year 2023
For his exceptional work as Energy Minister since taking office in March 2021, Dr. Prempeh was awarded the Order of Merit award at a colorful ceremony on Friday, December 22, 2023.
The organizers claim that their decision to present Dr. Opoku Prempeh with the award ahead of his peers was based on a study that revealed his extraordinary dedication and passion for human welfare.
The Minister’s transformational leadership in the energy sector was acknowledged by the Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours Awards, which ensured a steady supply of power and fuel to keep the country running, particularly during a period when global supply chain disruptions are causing shortages in some parts of the world.
In a speech read by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, he expressed his utmost thanks to the almighty God for the strength and fortitude to be able to deliver on his mandate as Minister of Energy.
In addition, Dr. Prempeh expressed gratitude to President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for giving him the chance to serve Ghana.
“Last night, was yet another humbling moment for me, being named at the 5th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours as “Minister of the Year 2023”
It is once again, a testament that, our modest contributions to nation-building are being followed closely.
For me, It is a challenge and an encouragement to continue to give off my best as a public official, to the best of my ability to the people of Ghana.
Whilst, I am eternally grateful to His Excellency the President, for the opportunity to serve, I pay glowing tribute to the dynamic team I work with. They are the bulwarks behind the success story.
Overall, I am grateful to the almighty God, for his protection, sustenance and for granting us the resilience and fortitude.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed his gratitude to the organizers for acknowledging his meaningful contributions to the public development.
The 5th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Awards seeks to recognize and honour outstanding contributions of politicians, sports personalities, civil and public servants, traditional leaders, and many others with distinguished contributions to national development.
