Michael Oti Adjei Celebrates 9 Years At Media General
Michael Oti Adjei, renowned Sports Journalist is celebrating his nine years working with Media General.
Michael Oti Adjei shared on his Social media, ” Thank you to everyone for the amazing messages on my nine years at Media General. I appreciate the immense goodwill. I’ve been in and around TV3 and MG pretty much my whole working life. it started with an appearance on a champions league game in 2001 and since then, I have become integral to the Sports department since.”
He added, “But it all became formal and full time in 2015 when I got tired of life as a freelance journalist. Since then multiple roles as Group Head of Sports, General Manager, Digital, General Manager, News and now General Manager, Sports has taught me many valuable lessons about work, myself and leadership.”
KEYS TO HIS SUCCESS STORY
1. If you sign up for it, do it to the absolute best of your ability. The complaint doesn’t get the job done. The ultimate strategy is to do things.
2. Often we are so capable of much more but no one would hand it to you. Speak up for what you can do, make a case for it, prove it in every way you can and when you are handed the opportunity put all your energy into it.
3. It’s pointless leading any team if are you don’t significantly scale up the competence of others. There is a fair bit criticism about the intensity of my approach to work but I like to think those I work with see the value it adds to them and their work.
4. Stand up for your team members because part of a leader’s job is to take responsibility and let that energy seep through a team. So we save the criticism, biting feedback for when the doors are closed. Anywhere else, your team must get a sense of unflinching faith in them.
5. Acknowledge your personal capacity gaps because it’s the only way you can work on them and mould your all round potential better.
