Popular Ghanaian television host Deloris Frimpong Manso, widely known as Delay, recently shared a story about the hardships she endured years ago.
In a video, the host of The Delay Show recounted a period in her life when she had to wait for a friend to return from work before she could eat. During this time, she was often forced into what felt like unintentional fasting.
Beyond struggling to afford food, Delay mentioned facing difficulties in buying other essentials.
“My friend would come home and buy ‘check check’ (fried rice), which we would share… At one point, I only had one brassiere,” she revealed.
Since overcoming these challenges, Delay has been open about her journey.
“My story is a typical grass-to-grace one, from poverty to financial independence and success. It’s a true zero-to-hero journey, from being a nobody to somebody,” she said.
Through perseverance, Delay has become one of Ghana’s most successful female media personalities and businesswomen.
