Life in the spotlight has taken away the freedom of doing ordinary things for rapper Kwesi Arthur, who says fame in Ghana now follows him almost everywhere he goes.
Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey, the rapper explained that being outside Ghana gives him a sense of normalcy he rarely experiences back home.
“When I’m out of Ghana where I live, it’s more calm. I can go to a grocery store, do normal things like every other person,” he told Kafui Dey in an interview.
According to him, simple errands in Ghana often turn into public moments because fans quickly recognise him and begin taking photos.
“Anywhere I go, people pull out cameras. I went to print a document for an appointment and I was late because people kept asking for pictures,” he recalled.
Kwesi Arthur noted that the attention once felt difficult to handle, but over time he has found ways to better navigate public spaces and prepare himself mentally before stepping out.
“I have more control over my environment now. It’s about communication and understanding where you are going,” he stated.

Even with the success and recognition, he admitted there are parts of his old life he still misses, especially the ability to enjoy quiet moments with friends without attracting attention.
“I miss when I could go to the beach with my boys and just chill. But it’s a gift and a curse,” he added.
The award-winning rapper is currently living in Atlanta in the United States.
