Carlos Queiroz is set to remain in charge of the Black Stars after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) reached an agreement with the Portuguese coach for a fresh spell at the helm of the national team.
The decision extends Queiroz’s association with the Black Stars after his previous mandate, which included guiding Ghana at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, came to an end a few weeks ago.
According to the GFA, discussions involving the association, Queiroz and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have resulted in an agreement for the coach to begin a new mandate during the upcoming international window.
The football governing body said the decision was influenced by Queiroz’s wealth of experience at the international level, his technical credentials and his familiarity with the Black Stars.
The GFA believes those qualities put the coach in a strong position to oversee the team as it enters a new phase of its international programme.
Queiroz’s continued presence also provides an element of continuity as the Black Stars prepare for their next assignments, with attention now shifting towards the team’s immediate fixtures and longer-term objectives.
“Further details on the new mandate and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme will be announced in due course, as the GFA and Coach Queiroz turn their focus to building a successful new phase for Ghana on the international stage.”
The GFA is expected to provide additional information on the scope of Queiroz’s new mandate and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme in the coming days.
