Keche Joshua has paid tribute to Joana Gyan Cudjoe following the conclusion of the music duo’s seven-year contract with her record label, GEM Media.
Rather than viewing the end of the partnership as a setback, Joshua believes it marks a new chapter for Keche after years of working under the guidance and support of the Amenfi Central Member of Parliament.
The musician spoke warmly about Joana Gyan during an interview on Hitz FM, describing her contribution to Keche’s career as significant and insisting that the group would not have reached its current level without her backing.
Joana Gyan, who is married to Keche Andrew, became an important figure in the duo’s professional journey after taking charge of their record label. Joshua said she invested heavily in the group and helped create the platform that allowed them to produce some of their notable songs.
“When they came in, they realised that the potential Keche has is very strong. So, through the woman, we recorded ‘No Dulling’, ‘Good Mood’, and we’ve done everything with them. So, I think it’s time we give the mantle to Keche because we’re strong enough to hold the mantle.
“To be honest, it’s been great working with GEM Media, and I would not lie because Andrew’s wife is one woman I would go on my knees and pray for every day. She’s an amazing woman. She did everything possible to position Keche,” he said.
Joshua also spoke about the way Joana handled the unusual dynamic of managing a music group that includes her husband.
According to him, she never allowed her marriage to Andrew to interfere with her responsibilities as the duo’s record label owner. Instead, she approached business matters professionally and worked to resolve disagreements between the two musicians.
“Anytime Andrew and I are doing anything, she doesn’t come in as a wife. She does it as a record label owner, sits us down, and makes sure she clears any bad energy.
“Andrew and I have been through a lot, but this woman makes sure that when it comes to us, you will never hear anything about us. Even if we fight, she tries to remind us where we came from,” Keche Joshua added.
