Sista Afia reveals her intention of going back to nursing at the age of 40
Ghanaian singer Sista Afia, born Francisca Gawugah, has shared her plans for life after 40—and it involves a return to her first career.
In an interview on Onua TV, the ‘Weather’ hitmaker revealed that while music remains her main focus, she intends to return to nursing when she reaches 40.
“Right now, I’m a full-time musician, and nursing is on hold. But when I turn 40, I’ll go back to practicing,” she stated.
Sista Afia originally pursued a nursing career in the United Kingdom before trading scrubs for stardom in Ghana’s music industry. Despite her success in music, she hasn’t ruled out a comeback to the medical field.
On a lighter note, she joked about being out of touch with medical studies. “It’s been so long since I left school—I’ve even forgotten how to spell Chloroquine,” she quipped.
Over the years, Sista Afia has cemented her place as one of Ghana’s most celebrated female artists, but when the time comes, she’s ready to embrace her other passion once again.
