Joana Gyan Cudjoe and NDC Sue Electoral Commission over disqualification in Amenfi Central parliamentary race

Joana Gyan Cudjoe

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its parliamentary nominee for the Amenfi Central Constituency in the Western North Region, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, have sued the Electoral Commission over Mrs. Cudjoe’s disqualification from the December 7, 2024 parliamentary election.

The plaintiffs have also filed a motion for an order of interlocutory injunction pursuant to Order 25 Rule 1 of C.I. 47.

This means they seek to prevent the Electoral Commission from printing the Notice of Poll and the ballot papers for the Amenfi Central parliamentary election until the substantive case is resolved.

The motion was filed on Thursday, October 17, 2024, a day after it was revealed that the Electoral Commission, in a letter dated October 10, 2024, had informed Joana Gyan Cudjoe of her disqualification from the parliamentary race.
