Ghanaian rapper Edem had a blunt response for a netizen who asked him for help with rent during a TikTok live session.
The individual requested GHS 2,000 to pay rent in Accra, but Edem wasn’t sympathetic. The Gbevu rapper told the user to return to the village if he/she couldn’t afford to live in the city, adding that there will be plenty of places to stay there.
Edem also addressed another user who claimed the rapper had refused to give him money after he had created a drawing of him. He questioned why he should be expected to pay, pointing out that many people create fan art as a way to show appreciation, not as a means to demand money.
Edem expressed frustration with individuals who, in his view, use fan gestures like drawing celebrities as a way to guilt them into giving money.
The rapper’s candid comments have sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some supporting his straightforwardness and others criticizing his tone.
