Ghanaian Highlife icon Dada KD dies after short illness

Renowned Ghanaian Highlife musicians Dada Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, has died, marking a somber moment for the country’s music fraternity.

News of his passing broke late on Friday, May 16, 2025, sending a wave of grief across social media. Fans, fellow musicians, and industry colleagues poured out tributes, remembering his music and legacy.

While the exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed, sources close to the family revealed that the veteran musician died at Gbawe Hospital in Accra after a short illness.

Dada KD carved a memorable niche in Ghana’s music scene with timeless hits such as Fatia Fata Nkrumah, Odo Mu Anigyea, My Heart Goes Boom, and Honey Love. His unique voice and lyrical depth earned him admiration across generations.
