Nana Agradaa Convicted in 2022 Money-Doubling Scheme; Sentencing Pending

Nana Agradaa convicted

Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been convicted in a long-running fraud case tied to a money-doubling promise she made during a church service in 2022. Once a prominent fetish priestess turned evangelist, Agradaa now awaits sentencing after her dramatic fall from grace.

An Accra Circuit Court, led by Justice Evelyn Asamoah, found her guilty of “charlatanic advertisement” and “defrauding by false pretences.” Central to the case was a viral video from that year, in which Agradaa claimed she would multiply cash for anyone who attended an overnight prayer session at her Heaven Way Church in Weija.

Before determining her sentence, the court ordered a pregnancy test be administered, an unexpected development during proceedings. The number of years she could face behind bars remains undisclosed.

Her conviction comes nearly three years after her arrest on October 9, 2022, prompted by public outcry over a controversial church event two days earlier.

“The police have arrested Patricia Asiedua, alias Nana Agradaa, following allegations of a money-doubling scam levelled against her by some members of the public. The suspect is currently assisting with police investigations,” the Ghana Police Service stated at the time.

The October 7 service was marketed as a miraculous financial breakthrough, drawing followers who believed they would receive multiplied returns on any money they sowed. Instead, numerous attendees later accused Agradaa of deception, claiming she collected their money and then ordered them out of the building with no explanation.

Angry and disillusioned, many victims turned to social media to recount their experiences, describing how they were misled and left empty-handed. Their testimonies ignited public outrage and prompted swift police action.

In the days following her arrest, law enforcement urged additional victims to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation at the Accra Regional Police Command.
