Matilda Asare Earns Master’s Degree, Balancing Stardom, Motherhood & Ambition

Ghanaian actress Matilda Asare graduates from KNUST

After years of putting her academic dreams on pause, Ghanaian actress Matilda Asare has finally checked a long-standing goal off her list, earning a Master’s degree. On Friday, June 27, 2025, she proudly graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a Master’s in Human Resource and Strategy.

Speaking shortly after the graduation ceremony on the KNUST campus in Kumasi, Matilda opened up about the journey, describing it as one marked by sacrifice, delay, and determination.

She revealed that her academic path started in 2011 when she completed her first degree in Human Resource Management at Baptist University in Kumasi. But life, filled with film roles, family commitments, and the demands of motherhood intervened, stretching the timeline for her second degree far beyond what she had imagined.

“The break was long because of marriage, children, and my work,” Matilda said, reflecting on how difficult it was to balance acting with personal responsibilities. “But I never gave up on the dream.”

Her decision to return to school wasn’t random. It was deeply tied to her evolving ambitions within the film industry. “I felt it was necessary to learn more about management and other things because I am venturing into the production of movies now,” she explained.

The graduation turned into more than just an academic milestone, it became a mini reunion for Ghana’s Kumawood community. On hand to celebrate with her were some of the industry’s most respected names, including Rev. Samuel Nyamekye of Miracle Films, Apostle John Prah, director Jones Agyemang, and many others who gathered to honour not just her achievement, but her perseverance.
