Nana Yaa Brefo Welcomes Twins After Years of Fertility Struggles
After years of enduring physical setbacks and emotional trials, popular Ghanaian media personality Nana Yaa Brefo Danso is celebrating a long-awaited breakthrough, the arrival of twins.
The joyful news went public on Monday, June 30, 2025, after fellow broadcaster and close friend Ohemaa Woyeje paid a surprise visit to Nana Yaa’s home and met the newborns. The award-winning DJ shared a heartwarming video of the moment online, showing herself, Nana Yaa Brefo, and the babies, sparking waves of congratulatory messages from fans and followers alike.
Nana Yaa, who is currently with Media General, has long been open about her difficult road to motherhood. In a 2023 interview with Adom TV, she shared the emotional and physical toll of her fertility challenges, including a life-altering surgery that changed everything.
“I tried other means to get pregnant and I have tried IVF about six times. Four were successful but the pregnancy was aborted at a point,” she painfully recounted.
She explained that complications from a previous operation had resulted in the loss of her womb, leaving her to pursue alternative paths to becoming a mother. At one point, she considered adoption as a possibility.
“I have spoken to the head of social welfare about three times but I haven’t had the courage to proceed. I went to an orphanage for a donation and have even met two girls but I’m working on something currently and that will determine the next step,” she revealed.
The journey took a toll not only on her spirit, but also on her body and finances. “I am on break now. Aside from the cost, the health complication is a lot so I have relaxed now. It is the person involved or the eggs you use,” she said.
