Takoradi Fans Lash Out at Black Sherif with Sachet Water After Hours-Long Delay (Video)

What was meant to be a headline performance by Black Sherif in Takoradi turned into a flashpoint of controversy, as fans and industry insiders voiced disappointment over the artist’s conduct before and during the highly anticipated event on Saturday.

Despite reports that the award-winning Ghanaian musician was paid GHS 300,000 for the show, frustration mounted when he arrived at the venue close to 5:00 a.m., long after fans had gathered and waited throughout the night. The delay triggered an eruption of dissatisfaction, with some audience members hurling sachet water at the stage during his performance, clearly agitated by the late start.

Behind the scenes, the situation appeared even more chaotic. Event insiders revealed that prior to his appearance, Black Sherif allegedly demanded an additional GHS 50,000, claiming the stage design and performance setup fell short of his expectations. These last-minute negotiations reportedly added further stress to an already strained production team.

Compounding matters, the artiste was said to be unhappy with the transportation and hospitality arrangements. He reportedly refused the original vehicle sent to pick him up from the airport, requested a hotel change, and expressed dissatisfaction with the convoy assigned to him.

Sources say these unanticipated requests placed a financial and logistical burden on the organisers, who had already made substantial investments into the event’s success.

While Black Sherif continues to enjoy immense popularity both locally and internationally, the fallout from his Takoradi performance has reignited ongoing debates about the professionalism of top-tier Ghanaian acts. Critics argue that last-minute demands, disregard for timelines, and poor communication contribute to strained promoter-artiste relationships and risk eroding trust within Ghana’s live event ecosystem.

As fans continue to react online, many are calling for greater accountability and respect between artists and promoters to safeguard the integrity of the country’s entertainment scene.
