Wendy Shay has finally shed light on a behind-the-scenes role she played in one of Ghana’s most talked-about music reconciliations, the truce between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
Their infamous clash at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now known as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, sent shockwaves through the entertainment world after Stonebwoy drew a gun onstage when Shatta Wale and his crew approached him. The chaos drew swift criticism from the public and industry stakeholders.
Though credit for the eventual peace deal largely went to businessman Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban and Nana Aba Anamoah, Wendy Shay has now come forward to say she helped initiate the process that brought the feuding artistes back together.
Speaking in a recent interview on Okay FM with Nana Romeo, the “Uber Driver” hitmaker revealed, “I was the one who gave Dr. Abban Shatta Wale’s number after he called me saying he wanted to speak with him.” She added that Stonebwoy was also contacted soon after that.
Wendy further explained that she had visited Dr. Amoa-Abban’s residence shortly after clinching the New Artiste of the Year title in 2019. The visit, she said, was partly to show appreciation and present her award plaque, as Dr. Amoa-Abban had supported her debut Shay Concert as a sponsor.
