Ghanaian media personality, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, has called for a lasting recognition of the late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, urging national institutions to preserve his legacy in a manner befitting his impact on music and culture.
Following a visit to the legendary musician’s residence after his death, Afrifa-Mensah proposed that roundabouts, particularly in the Ashanti Region, be named in Lumba’s honour. He believes multiple landmarks across the country should reflect the artiste’s lasting influence.
“Many roundabouts in the Ashanti Region and Ghana should be named after the deceased musician,” he said.
Afrifa-Mensah appealed to the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and other key agencies to spearhead the initiative.
While there have been calls for a statue to commemorate the Highlife star, Afrifa-Mensah maintained that Lumba’s legacy warrants more than a mere sculpture.
