Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, has died, the Oyoko Royal Family has confirmed, plunging Asanteman into deep mourning.
Her passing, reported to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an emergency sitting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday, August 11, 2025, marks the loss of one of the most influential figures in the Ashanti realm.
Born Nana Ama Konadu, she was the biological sister of the current Asantehene and served as the 14th Queen Mother of Asanteman. She ascended to the role five years ago after the death of her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
Throughout her reign, Nana Konadu Yiadom III earned immense respect for her wisdom, steadfast loyalty, and dedication to Asante traditions. She was instrumental in safeguarding the kingdom’s cultural heritage and provided unwavering support to her brother’s reign.
Her presence at the Manhyia Palace stood as a powerful emblem of unity and stability, not only within the royal household but also across the entire Asante nation.
Although official details remain limited, family sources, according to a report, indicate that she passed away in the early hours of August 7, 2025.
The Manhyia Palace is expected to release an official statement and announce funeral arrangements after completing all traditional rites and protocols that precede such royal death announcements.
