While Sarkodie has often been at the center of complaints from artistes who say he’s hard to reach for collaborations, gospel powerhouse Obaapa Christy paints an entirely different picture, one of speed, openness, and a feature that came together with surprising ease.
In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Christy recalled the moment she decided her new single, Odeneho, needed a touch of Sarkodie’s rap genius. “After recording the song in the studio, I said to myself that I would need King Sark on the song. Fortunately for me, the music producer left some gaps in between the songs, so I took it home and called Sarkodie on WhatsApp because I was in Germany,” she disclosed.
The response, she revealed, was almost instant. “When he picked up the call, he asked me to send the song, and that was when he told me I would hear from him very soon.”
Contrary to the stories from other artistes, Sarkodie was not only available but prepared. “He told me that it won’t take long and that he would send the song back to me. True be told, it didn’t last long.”
The process was so smooth that Obaapa Christy says it put her at ease. “When Sark sent the song, he told me that he already had the lyric and was waiting for the perfect time to send it. He said that this is the perfect time. After that, I became so relaxed.”
