Ghanaian Gospel singer, Piesie Esther, has addressed the ongoing debate surrounding this year’s Ghana Music Awards USA, where Empress Gifty’s victory sparked heated reactions.
The controversy occurred after Gifty was named Artiste of the Year at the 2025 ceremony, ahead of King Promise, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Fameye, and KiDi. Following her win, her husband, Hopeson Adorye, went viral in a video questioning why gospel colleagues had not congratulated her.
Speaking in an interview on Power FM, Piesie Esther said she did not see anything unusual about the silence from fellow musicians.
She pointed to her own experience in 2023, when she won the same award and received no acknowledgments from peers in the gospel industry.
“I won the Ghana Music Awards USA Artiste of the Year in 2023, and no one congratulated me. So it is normal,” Piesie Esther remarked.
