Efia Odo has expressed her frustration with the Ghanaian music industry, arguing that selfishness within the community of artistes is stalling its growth.
In an interview with Ghana Weekend, the actress and socialite who has transitioned into music said real progress will only be possible if musicians treat each other as allies rather than rivals.
“If I could change one thing about the Ghanaian music industry, it would be how we relate with each other. Everybody is doing selfish things. We are a collective, the music is for the people, not for us. We need to support each other more,” she stated.
Efia Odo emphasized that sharing one another’s work and combining platforms would create bigger opportunities for all. Drawing on her own online following as an example, she explained how collaboration could expand their reach.
“If I have 100,000 followers and another artiste has 100,000, and we share each other’s work, it only expands our reach. But selfishness is holding us back,” she noted.
The entertainer also revealed a new chapter in her career, explaining that she has streamlined her brand to focus solely on music.
“Now it’s just music. If you go on my page, I’ve archived almost everything off. I’m intentional about what I’m doing, and right now, I’m just giving you guys music back-to-back…” she said.
According to her, her views are not driven by personal gain but by a commitment to seeing the industry prosper collectively.
