Lawyers representing Ghanaian actor and film producer, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, have taken steps to protect his work after accusing Abrempong TV of airing his film “A Country Called Ghana” without authorization.
In a cease-and-desist letter dated September 2, 2025, and signed by Enoch Sebastian Owusu Esq., Managing Partner of NexLaw Attorneys, the Nsawam-based station is accused of repeatedly broadcasting the movie without approval from its copyright holders, Weezy Empire.
The letter demands GHS 1,000,000.00 in compensation. It further alleges that multiple witnesses confirmed the unauthorized broadcasts and provided video recordings as proof, evidence the lawyers argue clearly demonstrates a violation of Lilwin’s intellectual property rights under Ghanaian law.
According to the legal team, Abrempong TV’s actions have not only infringed upon Lilwin’s economic and moral rights but also inflicted significant financial losses and damage to his brand and production company.
The notice gives the station 14 days to meet the demands or face legal proceedings. The lawyers added that if the case proceeds to court, they will also pursue extra damages for breach of intellectual property rights as well as the full cost of litigation.
