Kojo Cue may be one of Ghana’s most respected rappers, but in his view, the country’s ultimate rap crown belongs to Sarkodie.
In a discussion with MC Portfolio on Kumasi’s Angel FM, he argued that Sarkodie’s long track record of chart-topping music, nationwide appeal, and award-winning consistency makes him unrivaled in the industry.
“Sarkodie is the greatest rapper of all time. It is metrics, it’s undeniable. You can check everywhere. Based on consistent hits, based on how huge his fanbase is,” Kojo Cue said.
He pointed out that Sarkodie’s success is not just about longevity but also about his ability to dominate award shows and build a catalogue strong enough to stand against any challenger.
Still, Kojo Cue noted that Lord Kenya, had he not stepped away from music, might have been the only figure capable of matching Sarkodie’s influence. “The only person I can think of who comes close to Sark in terms of fanbase is Lord Kenya, but because Lord Kenya stopped at a point, I don’t think he can go a hundred songs back-to-back with Sark. The most nominated, has won the most awards. Whether you like it or not, you cannot argue it,” he explained.
Although he acknowledges that fans enjoy the endless debates over who qualifies as Ghana’s greatest rapper, Kojo Cue has shifted his own ambitions. He now wants to be celebrated not just for his rap skills but for his contributions as one of the country’s finest songwriters.
