Ghanaian actress Maame Serwaa has disclosed that she has no plans to settle permanently outside Ghana, citing concerns about public judgment if she were to take on certain jobs abroad.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, she explained that although she occasionally travels overseas for work, she always returns home once her assignments are complete. Moving abroad, she said, is not part of her long-term vision unless it involves pursuing further education.
Maame Serwaa noted that she prefers to stay active and productive wherever she lives, but worries that some Ghanaians living abroad tend to ridicule others who take on modest jobs. She said that while there is nothing wrong with working at places like McDonald’s, many people are quick to mock celebrities who do so.
She explained that if she were to relocate permanently, she would want to work rather than remain idle, but fears that some Ghanaians would misinterpret such choices and assume she had mismanaged her earnings while in Ghana.
The actress also took a moment to reflect on her career journey, acknowledging her growth and expressing gratitude for her achievements in the film industry so far. She admitted she has not yet reached the level she hopes to attain but remains thankful for the opportunities she has received since beginning her acting career at a young age.
